Callaway Gbb

Is it possible to “wear out” a driver?

Does repeated play with a wood (say a Callaway GBB II Driver) cause it to lose any of its characteristics that help you hit the ball farther? Can you wear out a shaft? If so, please explain.

Titanium Driver, Yes you can wear them out.

Steel Headed driver, you could smash against rocks for 8 days straight and still not hurt it.

If you ever cut a driver head in half, you will notice that it is manufactured from very thin material, with nothing but foam inside it. The face is also very thin with repeated hits in one spot you can cave the face in (good way to test: get an eye dropper an place water on the face, the water should run off).

The shaft can also have stress fractures, which also constitutes to problems with ball striking. Look at the shaft at the hosel (were it enters the head), especially if the shaft is a couple years old, see if there is any light splits in the shaft. If so replace it, it will only get worse down the track
