Brushed Nickel Bathroom Accessories
When choosing accessories for your bathroom; you may want something a bit more subdued than bright chrome for your fixtures and towel bars. While you may prefer metallic finishes; shiny gold plated or brass faucets and towel rings may be a bit too outdated for your taste. Brushed nickel bathroom accessories will give a metallic look that will go with many styles of cabinets, bathroom décor,flooring and linens.
You can purchase pieces separately or as a bathroom accessory set. You will need hardware for the sink including the drain, a towel bar, a towel ring, a robe hook, and toilet paper holder. Provided you only need one of each of those things, it is quite a bit less expensive to buy in a set than separate purchases. You can order some of the Fontaine bathroom in box items online or get them at your local home store. They come in modern as well as traditional styles and you can often find cabinet hardware to match. Searching online takes some time but will save you quite a bit of money if you have the time.
Moen makes a beautiful line of brushed nickel bathroom accessories. The Cabrina collection offers towel bars, rings, robe hooks, and toilet paper holders with a dramatically curved post for an elegant look. They also have door hardware, cabinet pulls, mirrors, outlet covers, and switch plates in the same beautiful finish to complete your remodel. Due to the popularity of the brushed nickel finish, there a quite a few complimentary pieces for your bathroom. Framed wall mirrors, shelving, hampers, shower curtain rings and waste paper baskets can all be found.
Brass and chrome have long been popular finishes for kitchen and bath accessories, but brushed nickel is now the most popular choices. It’s soft stain finish works well in modern as well as traditional homes. It is also much easier to care for. Chrome and brass are beautiful when first installed and polished but require considerably more effort to keep them looking like new and quite often the finish will come off which requires replacement.
Metallic finishes are the fashion right now and the trend has carried over into home accessories. Brushed nickel bathroom accessories will give a tired old bathroom and new modern look for much less than the cost of a complete remodeling. Which cabinet hardware finish is more similar to stainless steel: dull chrome or satin nickel?
We’re choosing Avante cabinet door pulls from a website and the colors may be deceiving…we have a stainless steel sink and a brushed nickel faucet that looks exactly like the sink…so the dull chrome/satin nickel terms have us really confused!
They do not look the same AT ALL; they look different on the website side by side, see:

Actually, all these LOOK identical. It is the materials (metallurgical) that are different. Don’t sweat it. Stainless steel, brushed nickel, satin nickel, and dull chrome all virtually look alike. Stainless and brushed nickel look similar to each other but brushed nickel has a slightly warmer (“golden”) look. Due to fabrication processes, ANY finish (even stainless steel) can look different from manufacturer to manufacturer. BUT, all your guests will never notice the difference…except perhaps if they do this kind of thing for a living–and none of us will ever fault you (because we know that it is impossible to PERFECTLY match hardware).

SATIN NICKEL finish is nickel plating on brass that has been dulled and lacquer coated. Satin Nickel is sometimes referred to as “brushed nickel”. It is similar in appearance to brushed stainless steel or brushed aluminum.
BRUSHED NICKEL is a nickel finish that has been treated to dull the finish. Also known as “matte nickel” or “satin nickel”. This finish varies among manufacturers.
MATTE NICKEL is a nickel finish that has been treated to dull the finish. Also known as “satin nickel” or “brushed nickel”.
DULL CHROME is a plating, often referred to simply as chrome, manufactured through a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. The chromed layer is then decorated with a “brushed” finish. Also known as “satin chrome”.

The color of internet photos are unreliable at best. You will have to see it in person. (Even live and up close, florescent, incandescent, mercury, halogen lighting, ect. will cause ANYTHING to look different when viewed in natural light.) If you already have gotten the “brushed nickel faucet”…why don’t you stick with that, and get brushed nickel hardware. Sounds like a plan. And stop worrying, it will look great.
