Excerpt: Etruria station is a closed station in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, which served the areas of Etruria and the larger district of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It closed on 30 September 2005. The station was opened 9 October 1848 by the North Staffordshire Railway and was modified by them in the 1870s when the Potteries Loop Line was constructed and remains in that condition. The station was an island platform situated underneath a bridge carrying the A53, approximately one mile north of Stoke-on-Trent station. Its train services were suspended in May 2003 during the upgrade of the West Coast Main Line. Central Trains did not restart services to Etruria when the work was finished and continued with bustitution, although First North Western reintroduced a limited service, beyond what was contractually required. After already low passenger numbers dwindled even further, closure was proposed by the Strategic Rail Authority in February 2004. The closure was granted approval by the Department for Transport on 21 July 2005. The final train was Northern Rail unit 323226 which left at 07.16 to Manchester Piccadilly. The closure was condemned by Transport 2000. The platforms and steps were still in situ as of May 2007 although signage and platform objects were removed in June 2006. Classroom hallways are exterior, taking advantage of Central California’s moderate climate. Outside of the classrooms, there are overhanging roofs to keep off the winter rains, though large areas of the campus are unprotected from the rain or sun. Not illustrated. Excerpt: Extreme Warfare is a series of professional wrestling management text simulators created by British programmer Adam Ryland for the PC since 1995. Screenshot of Goldberg’s profile in EW 9000Ryland originally developed Extreme Warfare as a collectible card game with a wrestling theme. Due to complexity and set up time it was decided a computer format would be more suitable. The first Extreme Warfare on the PC (now called Extreme Warfare 1) was programmed in 1995 in QBasic. This game was a simple simulator, where one could decide what matches were to take place and who was going to win them but also involved some simple financial elements, such as the wages of wrestlers. Due to limitations in QBasic, Ryland moved the series over to Turbo Pascal where further incarnations of the game were created, including: Each version of the game was an upgrade of the previous and continually built on the ideas of booking matches and running the business side of a professional wrestling promotion. Currently, only games from 2002 to 9000 can be found on the Internet for download. After release of EW 9000, Extreme Warfare met its main rival. A game called Promotion Wars was released by fellow British programmer Adam Jennings, taking some inspiration from both Extreme Warfare 9000 and Championship Manager.
