Golf Clubs: Irons, Stiff or regular flex?
I currently am hitting the KingCobra 2′s with regular flex graphite shafts.( I know, they are 10 yrs old!) I have come to realize that an upgrade is needed. I am looking at the Callaway X16′s, X18′s and X20′s.
My question is, stiff or regular flex? I have decided to go with steel shafts which will be a change as I currently use graphite shafts but feel I could use additional accuracy over distance. However not sure if I should go with stiff or graphite. I have a stiff in my Driver, as my ball speed is between 146-153. With my current graphite irons, regular flex, I hit my 8 iron 155yrds, 9 iron 145yrds but only hit my 3iron- 205-210yrds and my 4iron-190-197yrds.
So, stiff or regular? heck Steel or Graphite?
Go seek out your local Club Fitter or your local PGA pro and let them help you make the right choice. Personally, I would go with a stiff shafted iron and stay away from the graphite for your irons. How many Touring Pros do you see hitting Graphite Irons ? However, like most people on here, I am certainly no expert on club fitting. Also the “experts” may have an “in” or know of a better way to get a great price for you. My local PGA guy is on the TM staff and he has TM come out a couple times a year with all of their latest stuff along with several experts. They also give out some great deals for you…..Most of all, take their advice, but YOU and only YOU should make the final decision….What may work great for Tiger or Phil maybe detrimental to your game…Go get Fitted !
