what kind of eye contacts should i get?

i have nearsighted n slight astigmatism, i have no fear of touching my eye and i hate wearing classes so i was going to get eye contacts, well ive heard of gas, soft and hybrid so i had no idea of which one to get , i know some pros and cons of each but i have no clue. which do you prefer? i probably might want hybrid since it corrects better than soft and it has the soft edge. since its a combo, but can you really wear them for long periods of time? and if so how long? Please help if possible!

I am farsighted with astigmatism, and just got contacts so I am in your same boat basically Don’t go for RGP, they are harder, and the fact that they are yearly worry me. Infections, and not to mention what happens if you lose one. Soft disposible are way better. My advice would be to go with the Silicon Hydrogel. Those are brands like Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism or Air Optics for Astigmatism. I tried the regular, high water content hydrygels first, and they were super uncomfortable and dried my eyes right out. I switched to the Acuvue Oasys and boy am I impressed. No end of day dryness or redness. I barely even know I am wearing them. The Air Optics are basically the same, though they are monthly wear and the Oasys are bi-weekly.

The Silicon Hydrogels also allow FAR more oxygen to your cornea. The Acuvue Oasys are like 98% oxygen passthrough.

I LOVE my Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism. Stay away from Biomedics Toric 55. Too much water content in the contact actually contributes to dry eyes.

(and yes you need to work with your doctor, but you are the patient, you can tell the doctor what you want. Unless there is a specific medical reason to stay away from a specific style of contact, you work with the doctor on brand and type, and many types would work for any given person)
