Excellent Condition
The cold winter months are coming soon which means the days will get shorter and night time will come faster. With winter comes possible snow, storms and rain which are all hazardous to driving. It’s imperative to ensure that your car is in excellent condition before the temperature gets even cooler and the sky turns even darker. Preparing properly and keeping your car in good shape can prevent you from being stranded in the cold weather.
Some of us will even be driving to work in the dark due to the seasonal change. Currently is the best time to ensure that your headlights and brake lights are in working order. There are two easy ways of achieving this goal. The first way is with the help of one other person, such as an acquaintance or a friend. Stay seated in the car and have your friend stand in out in front. Turn on your headlights and have your friend or spotter check if the lights are turning on and off as it should. Next turn on your high beams and see if that is working correctly. Then turn on both of your turn signals. Have you buddy let you know if there is anything that out of the ordinary or not functioning.
Turn on the headlights again while your friend is standing towards the back of your vehicle. The lights at the back of your vehicle, the tail lights, should work. Apply pressure to your brakes. The brake lights should come on. Repeat the test for your turn signals. Finally with your parking brake on, shift the gear to reverse and make sure the reverse lights come on.
If there is no one available to assist you with this, you can conduct these same tests yourself by parking your car in a garage or near a wall. You can easily test the front first and then reverse your vehicle to check out the lights on the back.
It is very important that the wiper blades are working. Purchase new ones if there are any signs of wear and tear or peeling and cracking. Lift the hood and check your wiper fluid to make sure there is enough left. Then turn on your wipers and ensure that it cleans your windshield completely. A dirty windshield is hazardous because it obstructs your view and may prevent you from seeing other cars and pedestrians.
Make sure the fluid of your radiator is level as well as brake and power steering fluids to make sure there is a sufficient amount.
