How long should the shaft for a utility club be?
Should the shaft length be that of a fairway wood, that of the iron the it replaces, or something different? I can’t find any utility club shaft length charts. I tend to think it should be that of an iron.
I am using a 19 degree hybrid which is about 1 inch longer than the 3 iron I previously used. Makes no difference and gives me little more grip to use. I bought a hybrid with a steel shaft [to see how it would perform] replacing my graphite shafted 3. The steel shaft is excellent, more consistent shots and greater accuracy.I now think I should go back to steel in my next set. Give up a bit of distance for more accuracy.
