A Moment in Time: Thirty Years in the Making is about the evolution of the Georgia Tech Placement Center into the current Georgia Tech Career Services Office. It is about a group of people in one place, and in one occupation. Topics covered in this book are real events, written by real people, illustrating the best practices of the time. I hope that this book will illuminate Career Services as a unique department. The focus of this book is to highlight the many facets of the Placement Center/Career Services operation while incorporating the many historical events that took place during these years, including the manual or technical writing processes (in choosing different types of stylistic choices and/or different types of audiences) used to accomplish these jobs, and the immense technological changes that truly revolutionized the way we conduct business. The design, format, style and idea behind this book were created by me. A Season Of Wing-Shooting

A Season Of Wing-Shooting

$14.95

Wing-shooting is an American tradition dating back to the first time a scattergun was introduced to our continent. In a world of high tech gadgets designed to make the sport easier and more efficient, there are still many Waterfowlers and Upland hunters who choose to pursue their winged prey the old fashioned way. Follow two brothers and their friends as they wing-shoot a typical Washington State season adhering to the traditional techniques and values passed on from the many generations of Waterfowlers and Uplanders who came before them. The author John Otto tells of tales and adventures with his brother Jason as they hunt the vast and contrasting geography of their home state. From Grouse and Band-Tail pigeons found in the forest regions of the Cascade Mountains to Brant geese and Scaup of the historic Samish Bay, these brothers will take you on hunts as classic as those a hundred years before them. Covering all four corners of the state, the Otto’s will expose the bounty Washington has to offer that not too many hunters are aware. No other state can boast the variety of species in full breeding plumage or offer such varied terrain and weather conditions for the serious wing-shooter. The over riding theme is one of family, tradition, and human values as several different relationship types surface. Be it the bond between man and dog, or the long storied theme of passing down through the family, or even the cherished relationship of the “hunting partner”, this book will run you through the emotions experienced by the typical outdoor family and hunter. Sit back, recall, and let yourself fade into your own memories afield as you live through the passionate adventures of the Otto Brothers. This book is beautifully illustrated by artist Chris Engelhardt. Many of the fine pencil sketches were actually completed in the field as the events of the story in the book took place. A primary character, Captian David Drewry provides the forward with the insight only a

 Advanced .NET Remoting

Advanced .NET Remoting

$2.62

This is first book that focuses exclusively on .NET Remoting. Remoting is a complimentary technology to Web Services that allows far greater extensibility and integration. It leverages the capabilities of the .NET Platform in distributed application scenarios in which both client and server run in this environment. Contrary to WebServices, Remoting is based on plugable transfer protocols, including either a platform independent SOAP encoding or a higher speed binary protocol which both can be used either over HTTP or direct TCP connections. The Framework provides services for synchronous or asynchronous execution of remote methods, distributed object lifetime management and services for authentication and encryption via HTTPs.”Advanced .NET Remoting” is the first book that really offers in-depth coverage of the .NET Remoting Framework. The first part of the book covers everything a developer needs to know to use to the Framework and its capabilities in real world applications, including the basics of Server Activated Objects vs. Client Activated Objects, formatters, channels, lifetime issues, security, configuration files, etc. The server side hosting of remoteable components in console applications, Windows Services, and IIS (Internet Information Services) are also covered in detail. The second part presents .NET Remoting internals in an unprecedented way. Ingo Rammer shows how the Framework really uses message sinks and sink providers, and gives in-depth advise on why and how to implement message and channel sinks. These chapters will also give detailed insight in the synchronous and asynchronous message processing within the Framework. Rammer also includes a chapter which presents the development process and source code for several “real world” message sinks and finally covers ContextBoundObject, which allows to use the techniques of the .NET Remoting Framework with local, client-only applications. “Advanced .NET Remoting” will be tech reviewed

Chapters: V for Vendetta, Tank Girl, Batman: Anarky, the Invisibles, Trashman, the Adventures of Tintin: Breaking Free, Minimum Security, Anarchy Comics. Excerpt: Batman: Anarky is a 1999 trade paperback published by DC Comics. The book collects prominent appearances of Anarky, a comic book character created by Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle. Although all of the collected stories were written by Alan Grant, various artists contributed to individual stories. Dual introductions were written by the creators both of whom introduce the character and give insight into their role in Anarky’s creation and development. Featured as an antagonist in various Batman comics during the 90′s, stories based on the character were highly thematic, political, and philosophical in tone. The majority of the collected stories (“Anarky in Gotham City”, “Anarky: Tomorrow Belongs to Us”, “Anarky”) are influenced by the philosophy of anarchism, while the final story (“Metamorphosis”) is influenced by Neo-Tech. Although anti-statism is the overarching theme of the collection, other concepts are explored. Anarky’s characterization was expanded throughout the stories to present him first as a libertarian socialist and anarchist, and in the final story as a vehicle for explorations into atheism, rationalism, and bicameralism. Literary references are also utilized throughout the collected stories to stress the philosophical foundations of the character. The collection also tracks the character’s evolution from a petty, street-crime fighting vigilante, to a competent freedom fighter in opposition to powerful forces of evil. Critics have positively received some of the stories within the collection, analyzing Anarky as a unique force for political commentary and discussion within DC C… More:

 Career Imprints

Career Imprints

$34.95

Based on her research of 800 biotechnology companies and 3,200 biotechnology executives, Harvard Business School professor Monica Higgins discovered that one firm—Baxter—was the breeding ground for today’s most successful biotechnology ventures. This phenomena of one organization spawning an industry has also been seen in the high-tech (Hewlett-Packard) and semiconductor (Fairchild) industries . However, until now there has been no suitable explanation of why and how these organizations were able to create the next generation of industry leaders. Career Imprints shows why Baxter was so successful in spawning senior executives and offers an understanding of what it takes for an organization to produce leaders that will dominate an industry for years to come. In this important book, Higgins shows that an organization’s “career imprint”—the result of company systems, structure, strategy, and culture—that employees take with them throughout their careers is the key to creating great leaders. By understanding these factors, staff, human resource executives, and CEOs can analyze their own organization’s career imprint and develop leaders. The book is filled with the compelling stories from the “Baxter Boys” alumni. These stories of their individual career paths provide a behind-the-scenes look at the processes and effects of career imprinting. Higgins illustrates different types of organizational career imprints by juxtaposing Baxter’s entrepreneurial career imprint with the career imprints of other healthcare organizations—Merck, Johnson and Johnson, and Abbott. Higgins focuses on the consequences of career imprints for industries, organizations, and individuals. She offers insight into the opportunities and pitfalls that open up to industries, organizations, and individuals with an understanding of career imprints.

Going form one classroom to another just to catch lectures will be replaced by you sitting infront of your computer the whole time. There is no stess! Those who have some disabilities can still learn online. Indeed anybody who has the heart and the passion for taking care of animals can be a vet tech. There are no exemptions in this profession.
Learning online is also less costly than learning offline. Think about it, you’ll have to gas up you car or get a ride to get you to school, you’ll have to buy books and other learning materials. It’s not at all as convenient as sitting in your home or office and getting everything from the internet. Even those who have other responsibilities can find time to study on line. It’s not really going to be easy to do multi-tasking but if you want it so bad then there is no reason you can’t.

The quality of education you can get online is no different from the traditional way. The same standard curriculum is being followed thus same insights are being learned. A certificate is also provided upon completion of the course.

This is actually a great leap forward for mankind. It makes education more accessible to everyone. And you always have the liberty on how to get it. Whichever path you want to take, good luck in your journey of becoming a vet tech.

Is ITT Tech a good school to attend?

I am considering attending ITT Tech in Charlotte. Everyone at the campus I visited seems very nice, helpful & professional. Their class schedules work perfect as I work full-time. I am not a fan of the cost I will incur but feel like it would be worth the money for the education I would receive. I have read many good things and bad things about this school and just looking for a little more insight. Thanks

I believe education, in any form, is the key to happiness and success. I really do. But I have one exception, ITT Tech. Firstly, because of it’s reputation among major employers isn’t that good and, secondly, the Return on Investment just isn’t there for MOST graduates.

Just through “who would you hire,” conversations with two different mid-level managers, one of which was a warehouse operations manager, whom hires entry level engineers and assistant managers, and the second a graduate of Cornell, and very snobbish, both agreed they would have a hard time hiring a ITT Tech grad because they had guys with lower GPA’s from State Universities over top grad’s from ITT Tech and plus for hourly jobs in payroll, supervising the floor or something else they would rather have top grads from the local community colleges. Not to mention, lately, there has been a lot of anti-Trade school talk in the media and everything. Students having to borrow up to 40k for a one to two year program that just doesn’t give you enough earning potential to justify it. I mean I’m going to attend a good business school and I’m worried about ending up with 20k in debt.
