The MP-62 irons with breakthrough DUAL MUSCLE technology were designed for the player who covets workability and shot making control with forgiveness. The design goal of the MP-63 was to take the profile attributes of the Grain Flow Forged MP-62 (head size, top line, offset, sole width) so prolific on the world’s tours and create an improvement in both feel and versatility.
Mizuno studied vibration simulations of the head and experimented with several methods of affecting the sound and feel at impact (Harmonic Impact Technology). Mizuno has also followed suit with its 2009 design guidlines by placing the running bird logo on the sole and the model MP-68 with new MP logo in the toe corner. The 0verall head and face is very compact and coupled with the thick muscle provide the purest feel of any Mizuno grain flow forged blade.
For the last several years pre release Mizuno head only sets have popped up far before the official release date. They look perfect to the untrained eye but when put on the scale the head weights are off and the hosel size often appears to be over or undersized. This has been the unfortunate case for many of Mizuno’s MP models in recent years but its a consistent pattern. Right now there are sets on ebay and in certain forums of possible fakes. Im sure if you contact Mizuno they will say these are not Mizuno authorized products. This confuses us because we have been under the impression for many years that Mizuno Irons were made in the Chuo factory in Japan yet the origin of these imposters are Taiwan & Hong Kong.

Cavity Plate on Golf Irons?
Is the cavity plate, where the manufacturer name is, necessary for the iron to hit well. Or is it just decoration?
The cavity plate is designed to make the irons perimeter weighted and although the sweet spot is in exactly the same place as it is in muscle back irons the club will resist twisting a little more on off centre hits. The clubs are called easier to hit but this is a misnomer as they are no easier to hit on the sweet spot than the muscle backs bur you will get a little bit more out of your mishits. The downside is you give up a bit of feel by not getting the same feel on those shots that you do hit dead solid perfect.
