Can I replace the fork that came with my bike with a different one?
I need a steel fork because im going to add a motor to the bike, and all the good bikes are made of aluminum. So, is it possible to just replace only the fork and keep the rest of the bike? According to the manufacturer of the motor, the reason Aluminum, Magnesium, Graphite or any other light weight material is not recomneded is due to its durability. Those materials can’t handle the winding or the torque of the motor that it will snap the fork from the point where the axle is bolted down to the motor.
Two points, yes, you need to make sure the steering tube is the same size, and all that (diameter, length, threaded or non threaded, all this can be changed of course, but you said FORKS)
Second. why not go with a rear motor or a motor that drives the chain instead of the front wheel? I have a Currie USPD and it is a wonderful addition to a bicycle (it is on a 27 speed Recumbent Trike! so not a beach cruiser!)
