How long to wait for a Driver’s License?

I’m planning on getting a driver’s license for the first time and I’m 20 years old. I live in Arizona, how long would it take for me to get a driver’s license? My dad says a month after I have passed the written exam and the drive test. But, my stepmother says that they hand it to you that same day you pass all the tests. Which is true? because I’m anxious to get a license and then get a car.

As far as I know, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to get it in the mail but here in NyC, when you pass, they give you a stamped paper that along with your permit serves as a temporary license..
If you take lessons from a driving school, they can tell you how long it takes or if you really want to know, try calling your local dmv office (good luck!)
