Awesome Taylormade Tour Preferred CB Irons
The TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Irons is the latest and greatest from one of the top names in golf. This Tour-preferred set has a cavity back for soft, responsive feel and consistency and allows forgiveness on off-center hits.
This is a little surprising as the heads are oversized with a little more offset than the MC irons, so you would expect all the usual game improvement characteristics, but no. The flight was a little higher but still penentrating and the long irons in particular were very easy to hit.
The sole is a little more chunky than the other TP irons thanks to the undercut cavity of the cast head, but that is what gives the CB irons their forgiveness and high MOI. The head includes a forged face insert and combined with the sound management badge does make these irons feel very good indeed.
And i have to say, it features a precision-weighting port that guarantees consistent swingweight throughout the set while ensuring a lower centre of gravity to optimize ball flight on every iron. Additionally, the TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Iron features the advanced groove design to promote more spin and control from the rough.
With a slightly chunky top line they still look good behind the ball and the head shape is nice. Good performance too with a penetrating ball flight. The only downside for me was the visibility of the cavity back in the longer irons.
The biennial Solheim Cup will be held Sept. 23 to 25 at Killeen Castle in Ireland. Pettersen has been a member of the last five European teams, while Kerr has been part of the last five American squads. The two met in singles once, with Kerr winning in 2003, the last time Europe won the Cup.
Pettersen won four of her six matches here on the 18th hole, making a birdie each time. Her first three victims were Natalie Gulbis in the first round, the Kraft Nabisco champion Stacey Lewis in the third round, and the world No. 1 Yani Tseng in the quarterfinals. Pettersen had an easier time in Sunday morning’s semifinal, making six birdies in defeating the No. 1 seed, Na Yeon Choi, 4 and 2.
Kerr had a more difficult time in the semifinals, defeating Angela Stanford, 1 up, with a par on 18. Kerr had birdied 15 and 17 to square the match.
“I was able to really turn it on at the end of that match,” said Kerr, who had not played more than 16 holes in any of her first four matches.
In the final, Pettersen took a 2-up lead with birdies on the second and fourth holes, but Kerr drew even with birdies on the fifth and the eighth. Pettersen regained the lead by making a 15-foot birdie putt at the 396-yard ninth.
