A Yellow object is absorbing all color frequencies except yellow. It refelcts yellow. In order for it to reflect yellow, yellow must be present. In the case of blue light there is only the color blue frequency. An object that appears yellow in normal light has no yellow to reflect when only blue is available. It absorbs the blue frequency and you see this as no color being present and call it black. In the case of magenta cyan combination you should know that cyan is blue – green and magenta is blue red. Yellow is produced when red-green are present. Since both are present the object will reflect the combination as yellow and absorb the rest.
