When It Comes to Putter brands?
now let me preface this by saying: I am not trying to dis anyone or their selected brand. BUT, isn’t the whole putter branded thing getting out of hand. People are using scotty cameron’s and Spiders when they shouldn’t be. I personally use a Slotline and love it! Cameron’s are indeed a very good putter, but are they really worth $300-$400
Well, there are two things to keep in mind about putting…
First, it is where most of your strokes are taken so it is where most of your money should go. Why would you pay $300-$400 on a new driver you only hit 14 times a round but skimp on a putter you use 30 times a round?
Second, putting is all about feel. Good craftsmanship has a lot to do with that, and personally every person I know that has a scotty has never regretted it. Confidence plays a huge roll and if that putter gives you confidence, then it is definetely worth the money. Scotty Cameron wouldn’t sell the putters for the price he does if there wasn’t a market for them at that price. Obviously they are worth that much money to enough people to keep him in business at that price, so he must be doing something right.
In the end, it is really personal preference. If you find a putter you like, that feels smooth, and gives you confidence, then its worth whatever amount you want to put to it. From experience though, Scotty’s usually fit the bill (though not always).
And, yes you can find Scotty’s fairly cheap on ebay and from other stores from reputable, trusted dealers. You just have to do some searching and research.
