12 Myths That Could Wreck Your Golf Game $7.95 How much do you really know about your golf clubs? Did you know that: * The lower the loft on your driver, the farther you’ll hit it? * Your new driver has a larger “sweetspot?” * You are playing a stiff shaft, because it says so on it. * Women’s clubs are designed for women? Fine, but the problem is… NONE OF THOSE THINGS ARE TRUE Tom Wishon, one of the leading golf club designers in the world, takes you through 12 myths that most golfers believe about their golf clubs. “Most golfers are playing with clubs that will not—and can not possibly—meet their needs. They are designed from the factory to be wrong for their size strength and swing characteristics.” Do you think: * That longer drivers will hit the ball farther? * The faster you swing, the stiffer your shaft should be? * That your clubs are “just like the ones the pros use?” * Find out WHY those things are not true! * Now learn the things that they do NOT tell you in the golf club ads. |

Arrows Of all things in the equipment of the archer the most important is the arrow. Unless every shaft be perfect and exactly like its fellows it is impossible to shoot well, no matter how good the rest of the tackle may be. Arrows may be plain or footed. The former are made of one piece of wood and are fit only for toys. The latter have a shaft of soft wood with a “foot,” or piece of hard wood, spliced on the pile end. This foot balances the arrow, so that it has a betterflight, and also makes it much less liable to break. The shaft should be Douglas fir, spruce or Norway Pine. Shaft Stiff

Drivers are an extremely important part of golf, even if you do only use them 6 or 7 times per game. It doesn’t mean that you have to invest blood, sweat and your bank account for a quality driver. Drivers can be found under budget easily, and the 5 highest-quality drivers, with information, is here:
Callaway’s Big Bertha 460: (from $199 or less, if you find a discount on Callaway’s Pre-Owned Site) This is best golf club for golfers with high-handicaps that are craving a little more fun in their game. It makes straight hitting easier with its lightness and soft shaft. Hits like a dream, and is a terrific confidence-booster.
Cleveland Launcher Ti 460: A popular favorite golf driver for golfers of any level. It’s got an extremely forgiving head, with a classic style to help straight shots. Both 9.5 and 10.5 lofts are available as a general preference and it comes with a factory-stiff shaft that’s flexible. If you shop around on Ebay or local discount sports’ shops, it can be found for as little as $60.
Titleist 904r: Another class-act golf club with a traditional style, this one’s also a good one for beginners to masters. It’s got a solid flight with a good, steady launch. It’s more suitable for those with higher handicaps and are looking for a forgiving head.
Nike Sasquatch 460: If your swing’s a little faster, this could be the driver for you. The shaft is slightly shorter (45″) which gives a stronger sense of confidence than a longer driver would. It has a light low-carb shaft that can allow longer distances and the ability to work the ball. You can find them from $50 , which makes for high-quality yet inexpensive golf clubs.
Taylormade R580xd: Excellent for beginners because of its large face- you can hit off-center more successfully. It’s also very cheap golf driver that you can find anywhere between ($30-90). It has a regular flex and a simple stock shaft- which can increase your distance by yards.
One thing to keep in mind when you’re shopping around as a beginner is that the larger the head, the better. It helps correct those blind swings and aids in straight shots. For the pros, the ultra-light graphite is in vogue, for more distance and manipulation so that you can work the ball. Whichever driver you choose, you can find quality without killing your budget.

I have a swing speed of 95-100mph. Should I switch to a stiff shaft? Am I losing anything with a regular?
I have a regular flexed driver and am looking at getting a new 3 wood. Should I stay regular or get a stiff shaft?
swing speed is not the only thing that adds up to if you need a stiff shaft. it depends on speed, and how long your swing is. if you produce enough torque in the club then the club will bend too much and you will loose yards.
How to figure out if you need a stiff shaft is to video tape yourself swinging with your driver/3 wood which ever you think you need a new one. if your club is bent at around a 15*-20* angle you probably should get a stiff shaft.
In the bag for 2011
