A Working Stiff’s Manifesto: A Memoir $0.99 Iain Levison can find work but not fulfillment. The frustration of dead-end, deadhead labor induces a kind of pink-slip payback syndrome as the realization sets in that his college degree will gain him little by way of psychic wages on the job. He is adrift in a workaday world where one human is as good as the next and all are expendable. Meaningless promises abound, “like when they were telling us [at commencement that] we were the future of the world, the bright shining blah blah blah.” In ten years, Iain Levison has lived in six states and worked at forty-two jobs, from fish cutter in Alaska to furniture mover in North Carolina, film-set gopher, oil deliveryman, truck driver, crab fisherman . . . He quit thirty of them, got fired from nine, and has difficulty remembering the other three. Whatever could go wrong often did, hilariously. A Working Stiff’s Manifesto makes Nickel and Dimed look like chump change. It is a funny book about the not-so-funny American workplace. The real thing, written not by a high-priced journalist disguised as a counter clerk, or a tenured professor passing as a vagrant, but by a genuine wage-dependent, red-blooded working stiff too “rich” for welfare and too broke to fit a consumer demographic. He works to keep his car running to get back and forth from work. He works to get by and get back to square one for the next day’s labors. |

Death on Hold: Limbo: The First Circle $16.18 Sighting my destination, a glitzy watering hole directly across the steaming boulevard from The Cavern, I stepped from the curb onto the hot asphalt and headed for the concrete center island. Dodging, stopping, vaulting–once more the invincible Florida State wideout-I reached my midstream destination breathless and unscathed. In my wake, I’d left several stalled vehicles and a few frustrated motorists chewing their lips and signaling their chagrin with the traditional stiff middle-fingered salutation. Unabashed, I acknowledged their display of plebian discourtesy by smiling and lifting both arms above my head and offering a double-barreled, Nixon-style response in kind.Flushed with success, purposefully and smugly certain of my invincibility, I set out again and managed to cross the first of the five remaining lanes without incident. I did pause momentarily to offer a congratulatory smile to the lovely driver of a BMW who managed a squealing stop with her bumper vibrating against my leg. It was almost sensual. Undaunted by the close call, I continued on giving the white-faced driver a quick wave of appreciation . Then my luck ran out. The brief pause propped up against the BMW’s bumper broke my rhythm and subsequently caused me to stumble into the path of an extended-cab pickup, a Dodge Ram I believe. I don’t remember the impact, just a blinding light and a mind-numbing explosion. That’s when my unanticipated sojourn in the circle of death-the first circle–began. |

JBL Studio 120c Dual 4 (100mm) Center-Channel Loudspeaker $129.95 Proven technology.Accurate and detailed high frequencies. For the most detailed sound quality from your music or movies, the JBL Studio 120c center channel loudspeaker features a patented CMMD Lite tweeter dome with a proprietary Bi-Radial waveguide. CMMD Lite starts with a dome of aluminum that is sandwiched on either side with ceramic. Its design is strong enough to hold its shape when moving rapidly, while light enough to effectively eliminate any unwanted resonance. And when it comes to competitive materials, they just don’t stack up. CMMD Lite is more than 200 times stronger than polypropylene, and it’s even three times stronger than titanium. Pair this with a weight that is actually 30 percent lighter than titanium, and you have a tweeter than can deliver all the subtle details that make for an extraordinary listening experience. You’ll enjoy the sharper, richer high-definition (HD) sound and precise 360-degree imaging that today’s most exciting movies demand. To make sure that the JBL Studio 120c center channel loudspeaker delivers an accurate listening experience anyplace where you happen to be listening in the room, it uses proprietary Bi-Radial waveguide around the tweeter. What You Should Know About The BridgeStone ViQ Driver
When some body asked you what is the different between the Tourstage and the Bridgestone.Don’t be confused. They are the same company. The Tourstage line is for the Japanese market and I believe that the Bridgestone line is marketed worldwide outside of Japan. If not worldwide, then definitely in the US.bridgestone and tourstage heads are both forged in the same foundry(endo) so they should feel the same… Same but for some reason the US line is a generation or two behind the latest tourstage offerings.Distinguishing the Tourstage and the Bridgestone, you’re may interested in the BridgeStone ViQ Driver.
Tourstage introduces its all new ViQ driver for the 2010 season. The new ViQ line for 2010 has been completely redesigned from the ground up with new technologies and performance features. Tourstage first focused on the design aspect of the new ViQ. The approached the design keeping in mind that golf is as much a mental game as it is physical and designed a new driver pleasing to the eye and easy to swing and square up visually with a gradient crown and gradient color shaft with grip alignment. A new face design with extra large sweet spot features variable thickness and back face grooves. This enhances not only feel but ball speeds and expands the sweet area by over 13% over the previous ViQ.
The center of gravity is placed deep but at a spot that creates optimal trajectory and spin. The new vT-50w shaft was redesigned to not only be stable but reduce rounding on load and return quickly to its original shape to square up at impact. This 460cc conforming all Ti driver is available in 9.5 10.5 and 11.5* lofts with the mid kicking VT-50w shaft.
Standard shaft and flex combinations are as follows:
9.5* Stiff
10.5* Reg, Stiff/Reg, Stiff
11.5* Reg

Can you go to stiff on a driver Shaft?
I am looking into getting a new shaft for my driver. I use the Cobra L4V driver in x speed. My club head speed is around 125. i am looking at getting the UST Proforce LD V2 shaft but im trying to decide wither to go with X, XX, or XXX stiffness. Any impute would be helpful. Thanks
Ok…. a clubhead speed of 125 is fine……the next and most telling question is what is your ball flight with your present shaft and are you on target? Simple club head speed tells us nothing only that you are able to generate a decent speed. Now on to the LD shaft selection…..You are aware, I am sure, That the LD version of the ProForce V2 is used primarily in Long Drive Competitions. Thus it is not a really good choice for actual course play. That said….if your swing speed is accurate……You should be in the LD2 which is the stiff version. There are however other considerations to take into account….Will you be able to generate a proper spin rate with this shaft? What does this shaft do to your launch angle? Its not always about a new shaft…but about if the new shaft is going to work well with your particular swing dynamics. Good luck and Fairways and greens!
