I need to append one .mpg file to another and have the combined file have the correct combined duration marker
I have two .mpg files. I found the File Append and Split Tool (F.A.S.T.) on the web, but we I append the two .mpg files together, the new video is in a format unreadable to most media players. If I use VLC media player, the combined video plays, but has a duration listed of lthe ength of the first file. This prevents me from running the combined video through a program like Super DVD Creator 9.30 and converting it to .mpg, as it cuts it off.
Anyone know of another (preferably free) solution? Thank you.

if ur using vista, the new windows movie maker allows you to open and drop into the time line as many mpgs as you wish (up to about 4gigs i think). Then it allows you to edit if you wish and then save using a lot of different formats/compression rates. I use it all the time to create videos for YouTube 
if you don’t have vista yet, it might be possible with xp’s movie maker but i could never manage it. however it MIGHT be possible to upgrade from the Microsoft website
