Should I get new irons?
I have just started playing in the past few months. My current iron set includes a 4, 7, 8, and 9 of a no-name brand called javithon, a 3 iron that is a spalding flight line, a Wilson 5 iron and a 1980s custom pitching wedge that was my grandfathers. I have only been playing for about 4 months and I’m curious to see if I would benefit on getting new complete set of irons for Christmas or if I should just try and play with what I have? I have heard varying things on clubs for beginners
also, the javithons are graphite shafts, the others are steel. This throws off the feel/consistency

Yes. Even an off the shelf set of irons will provide the consistent feel needed to develop your game.

Your extended question: You’ll probably get a lot of answers saying that name brand (even is used) is better than clone… The real truth is that at your skill level (and let’s be honest, mine too) it’s going to be six of one and half a dozen of the other. Just look for the shaft type you like, what feels good in your hands as you swing, and game improvement / oversized heads (they’ll help you get the ball air born and hit it further even on less than perfect swings/contact).
