seeing white flash after running into a steel beam?

My husband was driving a forklift at work last night and accidentally ran his forklift into a steel beam. He hit it so hard that the forklift bounced off the steel beam. Right as he hit the beam he saw a bright white light for a moment and then it went away. He felt fine yesterday but this morning he has been feeling dizzy and pressure and kinda numb and stiff a little in his neck. Why would he see the white flash but feel fine but today feel out of sorts? What do you think has happened?

It’s called wiplash. You need to take your husband to a doctor NOW! Not this afternoon, NOW!

It’s also likely he has a concussion.

The white flash is literally caused by the brain hitting the back of the skull since the visual cortex is in the rear of the brain.

ALL head or neck trauma is serious and potentially life threatening. Even if someone has no symptoms, they should still talk to a doctor after receiving a serious blow to the head.
