Let them rest for ever silent amidst that music in the memory which is felt, not heard—its blessing mute though breathing, like an inarticulate prayer I” CHAPTER H. GLASGOW COLLEGE. 1797-1803. ” Long, long, long ago, the time when we danced hand in hand with our golden-haired sister! Long, long, long ago, the day on which she died; the hour, so far more dismal than any hour that can now darken us on this earth, when her coffin descended slowly, slowly into the horrid clay, and we were borne, deathlike and wishing to die, out of the churchyard, that from that moment we thought we could never enter more.” That touching reminiscence of his golden-haired sister, which came back among the visions of a merry Christmas long after, points to what was probably John Wilson’s first deep experience of sorrow; and it is no imaginary picture of the scene it recalled. For even in those early years, and still more as life advanced, he was intensely susceptible to emotions of grief, as well as of gladness. A heavier trial awaited him at the threshold of the new life on which he was to enter after leaving the manse of Mearns in his twelfth year. He had seen the yellow leaves fall, on to the close of that last memorable autumn which finished his happy school-time, and now he was summoned home to see his father die. As he stood at the head of the grave, chief mourner, and heard the dull earth rattling over the coffin, his emotions so overcame him that he fell to the ground in a swoon, and had to be carried away. Such an effect, on a frame more than commonly robust, indicated a depth of feeling and passion not often seen in out clime among boys, or, in its outer |

‘Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky $0.99 Leon flies a crop duster. He also drinks a bit, and so he figures he’d better find a place outside of town to take off and land, just to avoid investigations. He stumbles across an abandoned government airfield deep in the Great Dismal Swamp, not far from Old Mill, North Carolina. He also discovers a lot of barrels filled with something – and being the paranoid type – eventually he starts to worry they’ll find him with those barrels, and it will be trouble. He decides to get rid of it by “dusting” it over the local fields. Who will know? The problem is – the chemicals in that barrel have some interesting effects on people. They start to eat at Leon’s already troubled mind, and – since Leon accidentally sprayed them over the local marijuana crop, they start to eat at a lot of other minds as well. The timing proves fateful for Jess, who just wants to get away from the tired, country life of Old Mill, NC and his tired old friends, like Teeter, who can’t stand still, but bobs back and forth like a metronome. Only Mabel seems worth saving – the question is, will the two of them survive the night? |

A Primer On Browning $19.99 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:CHAPTER II. Browning’s Characteristics. 1. Universality.—No criticism on Browning has surpassed those lines written by his wife, then Miss Barrett, wherein she individualised him by his ‘veined humanity,” and added that his works, ‘pomegranates’ indeed, need cutting deep to come at the red heart within. The greatest passion and the utmost power of Browning are spent in depicting men and women. His poems are full of incidents; he ransacks history and the world for curious and effective stories; but to Browning, unlike Scott or Homer, incident alone is meaningless, valuable only as an opportunity for revealing character. Browning is most at home with complexity, outward and inward. The more exceptional the incident, the more exceptional and interesting the character, according to him. That is why his works are so full, and ever increasingly so, of the out-of-the-way, occasionally the repellent. With every poet matter and manner are wedded, and with none more indissolubly than with Browning. Every thing in Browning, his ideas, especially those which at first seem contradictory, his beliefs, his selection of subjects, his defects and untowardnesses prove on close inspection to be parts of the most immutable, welded whole. His continuous unity of thought and purpose is extraordinary. Browning’s penetrative sympathy delights to enter all the various forms of life, to try to look through each man’s eyes, and describe in his character how his outside world is affecting the individual within. In Browning’s harvesting all ranks afford an equally rich yield of humanity. He shows the husk, only to remove it and present us with the soul. He is as interested in psychologising a Paris jeweller as a queen. The soul in each is his great object of study, the soul testing itself on |

A Scientific Investigation of the Old Testament $14.15 Occasionally God gives to His Church a man of unusual gifts, deep piety, and true insight. Such a man was the late Robert Dick Wilson (1856-1930). Dr. Wilson lived at a time when the Old Testament was being subjected to some of the severest attacks and criticisms that it had ever received. He himself was a devout Christian and grieved over these attacks. He also had an insight into their nature and into the need for refuting them. And he had the God-given ability for standing up to the challenge which these attacks constituted, accepting it and seeking to give an answer. -from Introduction by E.J. Young |

A. Wilson In an Hour $9.99 In 1960, August Wilson ended his formal education when he dropped out of high school after his teacher accused him of plagiarizing his paper on Napoleon. She implied it was too good for a black student to have written. Wilson retreated to Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Library where, reading Langston Hughes and Ralph Ellison, he was inspired. Against the Gates of Hell: A Crack House Exodus $3.99 New Jack City and The Wire meet JESUS! Against The Gates of Hell is the story of twin brothers, Kerby and Herbert Wilson Jr. Other than the obvious, these two are so alike in that both of them deal with life controlling issues. Moreover, both are in very deep denial. As adults on the Philadelphia Police Force, both experience the affects and influence of drugs in their world. One would come to despise the very essence of it’s culture, fighting to get them off the streets while the other would succumb to the lure of its deadly deception. How they would handle the many circumstances that would confront them would determine spiritual victory or defeat. Kerby is a man searching for identity, for love and acceptance. He would search for grace and mercy but would only find judgment and condemnation, from others and himself. A functional junkie, he’s distraught that he pushed his wife out of his life, then the bottom falls out as he sells himself to his addiction. Now there’s a price on his head and he has to face the wrath of the biggest drug dealer in Philly. Herby, or “Junior” his family affectionately call him, is a deacon at Living Waters Fellowship of Faith. Bitter after the lost of his parents and his brother’s escape to the streets, he battles anger and a judgmental perspective. Then there is Rene, Herby’s beautiful, spirit-filled wife, the glue that holds them all together. But who would be her glue when she feels weak under the burdens of family chaos? Jesus! This is a story of struggle and faith, of forgiveness, transformation and hope. This is a story of the love, power and Fatherhood of a gracious, merciful and forgiving God. This is a story, Kerby’s fight for freedom, againstthe very gates of hell. |

Age of Reagan: The Conservative Counterrevolution: 1980-1989 $17.99 “Those who say that we’re in a time when there are no heroes, they just don’t know where to look.” –President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981Hero. It was a word most Americans weren’t using much in 1980. As they waited on gas and unemployment lines, as their enemies abroad grew ever more aggressive, and as one after another their leaders failed them, Americans began to believe the country’s greatness was fading.Yet within two years the recession and gas shortage were over. Before the decade was out, the Cold War was won, the Berlin Wall came crashing down, and America was once more at the height of prosperity. And the nation had a new hero: Ronald Wilson Reagan.Reagan’s greatness is today widely acknowledged, but his legacy is still misunderstood. Democrats accept the effectiveness of his foreign policy but ignore the success of his domestic programs; Republicans cheer his victories over liberalism while ignoring his bitter battles with his own party’s establishment; historians speak of his eloquence and charisma but gloss over his brilliance in policy and clarity of vision. From Steven F. Hayward, the critically acclaimed author of The Age of Reagan: The Fall of the Old Liberal Order, comes the first complete, true story of this misunderstood, controversial, and deeply consequential presidency. Hayward pierces the myths and media narratives, masterfully documenting exactly what transpired behind the scenes during Reagan’s landmark presidency and revealing his real legacy. What emerges is a compelling portrait of a man who arrived in office after thirty years of practical schooling in the ways of politics and power, possessing a clear vision of where he wanted to take the nation and a willingness to take firm charge of his own administration. His relentless drive to shrink government and lift the burdens of high taxation was born of a deep appreciation for the grander |

Wilson A2000 glove First Base Gloves Are A Little Bigger
Choosing the best baseball or softball first base gloves is an overwhelming affair as regard to the size, amount to be spent, which brand and so on. One can expect to spend almost $80 to $150 to buy a long lasting and high performing baseball glove. It’s always preferable to choose a stronger glove like Rawlings gloves, Nokona glove, Mizuno glove, Wilson glove or an Easton glove. A first base glove is heavily padded like a catcher mitt so that it doesn’t hurt the catcher when they catch the ball no matter how hard it is thrown. They are longer in size in order to help the first basemen field and scoop balls of the ground more easily and readily.
It’s important to buy youth baseball glove for your child if he likes to play baseball and not the small adult baseball glove which would discourage your youngster. There is a wide range of youth baseball glove brands to choose from like Mizuno gloves, Rawlings gloves, Wilson gloves, Kelly gloves, Nokona glove and many more. Glove is the most important thing you have to be selective about because it is the glove which your kid is wearing most of the time and if it’s not comfortable the game wouldn’t be enjoyable. Youth baseball glove is made keeping in mind the comfort of kids so that they can enjoy the game they play.
First basemen’s mitt is designed with a bias towards catching instead of a balance between catching and removing the ball quickly from the glove. This is accomplished using several ways like; extra size, extra padding, different contours, and stiffness. There are basically three functions to baseball gloves style which helps to decide which baseball mitt to get for the player;
* Pocket level – short pockets for those positions which require fielders to quickly grab the ball and toss it to the base after the catch. Deep pockets help the players to hold onto flying balls.
* Webbing – baseball as well as softball mitt offers either an open or a closed web. A web is preferred when the player need extra support during a catch.
* Backs – an open back has a space over the wrist adjustment around the glove where as a shut back does not have it. Infielders prefer open backed glove whereas outfielders prefer a closed back glove.
First base gloves are made of different materials but the main material is the leather. Most of these gloves are machine made and there are only few companies who make hand made gloves. Many of the first basemen are often left-handed and hence first basemen’s mitt is readily available to fit on a right hand. The one that fits on the left hand is called a right-handed glove. Few things to consider while buying a first base glove is types of leather, size, how they are padded and finally how to break them in for a good game.
Rawlings gloves and Nokona glove are the two most well known baseball glove makers and they sell some of the highest quality baseball gloves.

Any thoughts on King Cobra FP Irons (Steel)?
I currently own Wilson Deep Red steel irons and am looking to upgrade and take advantage of some deals. Anyone know about the King Cobra FP Irons (on sale for $350)? Seems like an upgrade to me, what do you think?
I could probably get $150 for my Wilsons. Thanks!
The Cobra FP II Irons currently on sale now for $350 are simply outstanding! I have been playing with them for the last two months. The clubs are extremely accurate and the shafts are light so your swing speed should increase giving you more distance.
The FPs are forgiving, but use a reduced offset, so if you have a slice these clubs will not help your game.
The feel of these irons when you strike the ball properly is SWEET! When you mishit, you will know it, but you do not lose that much distance.
If you setup and aim properly, the FP II irons will fire lazer iron shots. I absolutely love this irons.
Keep in mind, these are not for a beginning golfer, begginers will be better servered with the Cobra S9s or SZs. Also the FP II irons are no longer in production, that is why they are on sale.
Great irons!
So Deep is the Night – Robert Wilson
