When someone else drives your vehicle, are you still insured?

Just wondering what would happen if someone else drives your car, and they hit something or get into an accident? And to be clear – yes they have a license, are insured with their own vehicles(not sure this matters), and you are also insured and licensed. Does it matter if the owner of the vehicle is in the car? I’m curious as a friend of mine might babysit my car for a couple of weeks while I’m out of town and want to make sure I cover all my bases..

You can loan out your car if you have “permissive use” on your policy. Most big companies have it.

If you have “named insured” only listed drivers can drive. If you have that kind of policy I would change companies.

Check with your agent. If you have ” permissive use” your fine.
